Family Rights to a Child in IL
The Illinois
appellate court recently held that when parental rights are terminated, the
rights and interests of the parent’s relatives are also severed and they have
no rights to the child. The lower court therefore
properly struck grandparents’ response to foster parents’ petition for adoption
of a child. The case is In re the
Adoption of S.G., No. 4-09-0912 (May 3, 2010, Ill. Ct. of App.). Read the opinion here.
