Opponents of gay marriage in Illinois submitted more than 345,000 signatures Monday to get an advisory referendum on the ballot this fall. Referendum supporters needed 283,111 valid signatures to get the question on the statewide ballot in November and submitted 345,199. Supporters had an original target of 500,000 signatures. Source.
