Commentary: Does Early Marriage Harm Women?

Blog readers may find Nepali journalist Ms. Kamala Sarup’s article in the Los Angeles Chronicle regarding harm to women from early marriage of interest.  She surveys the problem in South Asia and particularly Nepal. She writes that as a matter of basic human right, no person should be allowed to marry without full knowledge of its import. She says that a child cannot understand “the full social and physical import, and no child can understand the full social and physical import of marriage.” Source.  Kamala Sarup, LAChronicle,   losangeleschronicle.com.
