San Francisco Archbishop Says Adoption of Children by Same-Sex Households Conflicts with Catholic Teachings – Indicates Adoption Program must be “in Synch” with Church’s Views

San Francisco's archbishop, George Niederauer, while not barring placing minor children for adoption with same-sex couples, has indicated that this conflicts with Roman Catholic teachings on homosexuality.  The archbishop has asked the social services arm of the Archdiocese of San Francisco to bring its adoption program ''fully in synch" with the church's views while continuing to find homes for hard-to-place youngsters. According to newspaper reports, a spokesman for the Archbishop stated that ''Our teaching on marriage and family life precludes these kinds of adoptions.
