Michigan Legislator Introduces Bill to Create a Joint Physical Child Custody Presumption

Michigan Representative Leslie Mortimer has introduced a bill in the Michigan Legislature that would amend that state’s Child Custody Act to create a presumption that parents who divorce maintain joint legal and physical custody of their minor children. Both would retain the legal right to authorize medical treatment, have access to school records and have physical custody of their children for alternating and substantially equal periods of time.  Source:  Time O’Brien, Detroit News, detnews.com.
