Massachusetts Catholic Bishops Request For Gay Household Adoption Exemption Not Well Received

A request by Massachusetts' four Roman Catholic bishops to exempt Catholic social service agencies from having to place adoptive children with gay households was given a cool reception by Governor Mitt Romney. He told the The Boston Globe that he was not authorized to give such an exemption. The chairman of the House joint committee on the judiciary said there would be little support among lawmakers for an exemption from the state's antidiscrimination laws.
