Man $80,000 in Child Support Arrears Gets 10 Month Jail Sentence
A 58 year-old North Dakota father who owed $80,982.24 in back child support was sentenced to 10 months in jail by U.S. District Court Judge Ralph Erickson after pleading guilty to a felony charge of failure to pay child support. The father admitted to fleeing to Montana in his effort to escape his child support obligation. He also admitted that he had been moving around since 1997 in attempts to hide.
