With the passage Friday of an abortion bill in the South Dakota State Senate 23-12, the stage is set for a direct attack on Roe v. Wade. The bill outlaws abortion and makes no exceptions for a pregnancy caused by incest or rape. The only exception is if the abortion was necessary to save a pregnant woman's life. Doctors performing abortions could receive up to five years in prison. The bill is expected to pass the House again and then go to Governor Mike Rounds' desk. Source: AP, MSNBC.msn.com.
