Efforts to Ban Gay Adoption “Heats Up”
It was report Monday in USA Today that efforts to ban gays and lesbians from adopting children are emerging across the United States as a “second front in the culture wars that began during the 2004 elections over same-sex marriage.” The newspaper says that the effort to pass laws for a November ballot initiative are underway in at least 16 states. Florida bans adoption by gays and lesbians although they can be foster parents. Mississippi bans adoption by gay couples, but gay singles can adopt.
