Child-support collections in Illinois increased about 10 percent to slightly more than $1 billion in 2005, Governor Rod Blagojevich announced last Tuesday. There was also a nearly 57 percent boost in money collected through the governor's New Hire Initiative, which uses state-gathered employment records to find parents.
