State and parents disagree over child's cancer treatment -- visits allowed

The Texas Supreme Court issued an order Friday allowing the father of a girl getting cancer treatments to have supervised contact with her. The girl, Katie Wernecke, was placed in state custody following a disagreement between the state and her parents over her cancer treatment. Prior to the court's decision on Friday, only Katie's mother was allowed to see her daughter. Her visits were on the condition that she not discourage the girl from accepting cancer treatment for Hodgkin's disease, a cancer of the lymph nodes.
