Paternity: Is It Important to Know?

In Who Is The Baby's Daddy (And Why Is It Important For The Child To Know)?, Cynthia R. Mabry explores why some children do not know their father's identity, the importance of accurate parentage determinations to the children's well-being and establishment of their own identity, the essential role that fathers play in their children's life, and economic benefits that children gain from their father's involvement. She addresses how children's identity is developed through interaction with their father, and the relationship between race and culture that helps children of color to develop a sense of self.
