Connecticut new civil union law goes into effect today
Connecticut's new civil union law goes into effect today (Saturday, October 1). Chris and Scott Emmerson-Pace, who have been together since the early 1990s, said Friday that they'll be among the first couples to take advantage of the new law. The directors of the Family Institute of Connecticut and the Connecticut Catholic Conference said this week that they will lobby for a constitutional ban on gay marriage even though state law already defines marriage as only between a man and a woman. Meanwhile, eight same-sex couples, meanwhile, have filed a lawsuit to force the state to allow them full marriage rights.
