Governing ran a story on October 23, 2013 by Mike Maciag on Where Are More Older Workers Putting Off Retirement? Governing examined employment information from 2012 for those workers 55+ and 65+ in all of the states and found that "[i]n general, employees tend to work the longest in states boasting stronger economies that are more tied to the agriculture sector." The report ranked Nebraska #1 for those 55+ working when comparing the ratio of working-to-population. A number of explanations for the reasons behind continued work are discussed in the article. The report also contains the findings for each state, with an easy-to-use interactive map.
