  • Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi , United States Department of Justice, Jackson , Mississippi . Appointed as a special prosecutor to try a highly publicized case ( U.S. v. Winn) charging a defendant with extortion and conspiracy to kidnap, January 1990.

  • Received a Fifth Circuit Bar Association, Distinguished Board Service Award, 2004.
  • Received the Hinds County Bar Association, Outstanding Service Award ,2002-2003.
  • Received a Mississippi Bar Foundation, Appreciation Award for Service as Trustee, 2003.
  • Received the Mississippi Bar, Women in the Profession Committee, Susie Blue Buchanan Lifetime Achievement Award , 2002.
  • Received the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association, Outstanding Woman Lawyer of the Year Award , 2002.
  • Received the Mississippi College Alumni Association, Lawyer of the Year Award , 2001.
  • Received the NAACP, Jack Young Legal Award , 1997.
  • Lecturer in Law - Butler , Snow, O'Mara, Stevens & Cannada Lectureship in Law, 1995-1997.
  • Received the Mississippi College School of Law, Professionalism in the Field of Law Award, 1990.
  • Honored as a Woman of Achievement by Mississippi Women for Progress, 1988.
