New School Holds Punishment Conference
The New School for Social Research in New York is holding a conference titled "Punishment: the U.S. Record" from November 30 to December 1.
The conference plans to examine the foundations of our ideas of punishment, explore the social effects of current practices and search for viable alternatives to our carceral state. It is supported by the Russell Sage Foundation, the Soros Foundation’s Open Society Justice Initiative, the Ford Foundation and The J.M. Kaplan Fund and is also Cosponsored by the ACLU.
