Congress Furthers Efforts to Limit Federal Habeas Review
From Law.com: "Congress moved on several fronts last week to impose sweeping limits on prisoners' ability to challenge the legality of their convictions and sentences in federal court. The Republican-led efforts included the last-minute insertion of a controversial key provision on federal habeas review into the USA Patriot Act legislation. Former Solicitor General Seth Waxman called it "a very grave mistake" that would remove power from the courts and give it to the U.S. attorney general." More from The National Law Journal. . .
