Legal Aid Society of New York Avoids Bankruptcy

Logo The New York Times reports that a deal has been struck to save the Legal Aid Society of New York from bankruptcy.  The Society had suffered from lax financial managment in recent years, in spite of a board populated by lawyers from the city's most prominent firms.  The Society, which acts as the public defender for the City of New York, is the oldest legal aid organization in the country.
