Supreme Court Hears Oral Argument in Money Laundering Case Today

Supreme_court_2Today the Supreme Court will hear oral argument in Whitfield v. U.S./Hall v. U.S. to resolve a split in the circuits as to whether the federal conspiracy to commit money laundering statute, 18 U.S.C. 1956(h), requires an overt act to be committed in furtherance of the conspiracy.  Five circuits have ruled that an overt act is required under the statute, while two have held that it is not.  More ...  [Mark Godsey]
