Utah is considering controlling prison population by incarcerating fewer drug offenders. The Miami Herald editorialized in favor of automatic restoration of voting rights for released prisoners; at current rates of disposition under the existing case-by-case-hearing approach, the existing backlog will take 30 years to clear.
