Ontario gets new consumer regs
New regulations under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act 2002 are expected to come into effect July 30. They’re a mix of new disclosure provisions, mandatory contract warranty terms, specific measures addressed to individual abuses, and whopping new fines. William R. MacLean of Toronto’s Borden Ladner Gervais LLP has a run-down of the new rules and suggestions for business compliance.
