Paulson Abandoned
The Bush Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, testified in Congress yesterday in defense of his bailout policies. He was ripped by Democratic Congresspersons, which was to be expected, but also abandoned by Republican Congresspersons, which was also expected. As a Treasury Secretary, he was heavy-handed, self-rightous, and -- often wrong.

What a series of coincidences: AIG, Goldman Sachs' #1 counterparty, bailed out, while Lehman, Bear Stearns, and Merrill go under. Goldman Sachs returns record profits this year. Good to be the king.

Following up the Rolling Stone slam, New York magazine just did a GS profile "Tenacious G."
Paulson does not come out looking so good, and neither does GS of the federal government.
