Foreclosure and Deficiencies: A Nice Summary of Foreclosure Laws Across the Country
From John Rao:
In a report NCLC issued last year ("Foreclosing A Dream: State Laws Deprive Homeowners of Basic Protections"), we concluded that in 36 states and the District of Columbia, mortgage holders can pursue deficiency judgment claims against homeowners.
A copy of the report can be downloaded here and a summary of state foreclosure laws here.
If anyone is aware of errors in the state summaries, please let me know. A similar summary of state foreclosure laws included as an appendix to one of our publications is regularly updated, so corrections are greatly appreciated.
