Chapter 13 Eligibility Limits Increase on April 1, 2010
Debt limits for Chapter 13 increase April 1, 2010, to $360,475 of unsecured debt and $1,081,400 of secured debt. This change represents an increase of about 7% over the previous Chapter 13 debt limits.March 6, 2010 in Current Affairs | Permalink

San Diego bankruptcy lawyer, I'm curious to know your thoughts on the implications of this increase. That's a pretty hefty increase, no?

I have had a few cases recently where the debtors are right at $1 million of secured debt. A few more 11s will obviously squeeze into chapter 13 now - I'm sure the judges will be happy to have that.

I want to file a chapter 13 but i am over the secured debt limit. What does that mean and what options might i have.
