IATA Names Jeffrey Shane New General Counsel

Former U.S. Department of Transportation Undersecretary of Transporation for Policy Jeffrey Shane will become the new general counsel for the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Shane served in the DOT from 1979-1993, during which time he played a central role in the development of the U.S. Open Skies policy, then returned to the agency from 2002-2008. He has been a partner at Hogan Lovells since 2008. The International Aviation Law Institute interviewed Shane last spring as part of our "Conversations with Aviation Leaders" oral history project. Video of the interview can be viewed here, while a transcript of the interview is available in the most recent special edition of the Institute's journal, Issues in Aviation Law and Policy.
