ABSTRACT: Digitalisation, new technologies and scientific breakthroughs are unfolding on many fronts. Advances in communication and data processing are not just profoundly affecting existing industries, but also rearranging global value chains, thereby allowing for entirely new products and services and disrupting traditional ones. These trends can deliver benefits and stimulate economic growth; however, they can also give rise to competition concerns as well as create needs for new regulation. Since the effects on society extend far beyond the digital technology context alone, concerns arising from digitalisation have become increasingly relevant for both policy makers and stakeholders.
