$70,000 Per Year To Attend Law School! This is Real!

Ever wonder how much it is to attend a top ranked law school in New York? Well, Columbia charges $48,004 which does not include $1638 for health insurance or a $95.00 transcript fee.The estimated living expense is $21, 263. That comes to more than $70,000 per year. Now Columbia may be on the high side, but many schools' tuition is in the $40,000 range.

The Social Security Administration issued a ruling that it will not have COLA increase for recipients this year. Colorado is lowering its minimum wage in response to a decrease in the CPI. Meanwhile, the Dow reached 10,000 (the level it was at when I was a freshman in college). Business Week had an article this week about the lost generation of twenty-somethings, which I am a not-so proud member. Even YANKEES PLAYOFF tickets are lower in price this year than over the last few years they made the playoffs. In spite of all this, higher education institutions face no price-pressure whatsoever. Secretary Duncan- can you PLEASE do something about this?
