Transition from Semester to Semester
New Years Resolution # whatever--blog more often.
This is always a funny time. Balancing holidays with exam grading and starting the new semester (as we did yesterday) before finishing the old (a sizeable stack of bluebooks remains). One of those transition things I am always trying to do better is to make improvements from each time I teach a course, which is often at least a year apart. TWEN offers a great way to carry forward materials. Another thing I try to do (with varied success) is to keep a teaching journal for each class. This can be a place to note those things which work and don't and to provide som transition. Gerry Hess of Gonzaga wrote a very nice piece about using a teaching journal to reflect on one's teaching. Has anyone out there done this? Other ideas that work.
Happy new year,
EAL
