Happy May Day!!
May 1st is celebrated as May Day. It is associated with many public holidays around the world, most notably International Workers' Day, or Labour Day, which celebrates the social and economic achievements of the labor movement. Additional details are available on Wikipedia. May Day also was a day to celebrate the contributions of labor in this country before Labor Day was officially recognized as a holiday. An article about the orgins of May Day published by the Industrial Workers of the World (yes, the Wobblies are still around) is available here.
