Amendments to FMLA To Provide Additional Coverage For Military May Be On The Horizon

Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Christopher Dodd, both Democratic Presidential hopefuls, introduced an important amendment to the 1993 FMLA which provides additional coverage to military  families. The Bill, S. 1898, available here, extends the unpaid leave from the current 12 weeks to 6 months for wounded soldiers. Senator Clinton's press release is available here.  The Senate approved the Bill on August 2, 2007.

The Bill permits  a spouse, son, daughter, or parent of the wound solider to take this extended leave.

I expect that this Bill will be approved by the President.
